Acolades
I have been very privileged to have the opportunity to take part in some of the biggest events worldwide I have traveled substantially to many varied places and competed in numerous high level competitions. Below is a list of (as many as I can remember!) some of the competitions and awards that i have been part of the following are in ascending chronological order.
- My first selection for senior international Great Britain game against Ireland in Stoke Mandeville Stadium (aged 13) on debut scoring and assisting.
- The 8th Seoul Paralympics in 1988 from 15/10/88 to 24/10/88
- Awarded the Outstanding Achievement award "HMS Urchin Trophy" 1988 by the London Borough Of Redbridge
- Competed in the 1990 Saint-Etienne Championships for Great Britain
- Became the first female to play in a men's national league Premier team Became the first female to play in the European men's cup finals
- National League team (MK Aces) were runners up in the first Big 8 competition 1991
- Guest player for the Runcorn Raiders in the Spitfire Tournament in Canada in 1991 Voted onto the All Star Team
- World International Championship Basketball winners in 1991-1992
- British Wheelchair Sports Foundation National Games winners (MK Aces)1992
- The Big 8 Winners 1992 (MK Aces)
- Voted the Most Valuable Player at the 1993 European Championships for Wheelchair Basketball 26th June 4th July Berlin (Great Britain)
- Competed in the 2nd Gold Cup in Stoke Mandeville 1994 It was at this time I was voted in as Captain of the Great Britain team
- Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball National Cup Final winners 1994 (MK Aces)
- Bronze medal (and qualification for Paralympics) at the 3rd European Championships for Women in Delden 1995
- Holding camp at Pensacola made an Honorary Citizen of the City of Pensacola 10th August 1996
- 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games gaining 6th place in the world
- Bronze medal at the European games in Madrid 19th 29th June 1997 (Where my wheelchair was stolen!!!)
- Winners of the 10th International Tournament in St-Ouen 27th and the 28th of September 1997 (MK Aces)
- Winners of the Andre Vergauwen Cup 1997 (MK Aces)
- Competed in the Sydney Gold Cup 23rd 31st October 1998 Final placing 8th in the World
- Bronze medal (and qualification for paralympics) at the 4th European championships for Women in Roermond July 1999
- Sydney Paralympics 2000 final placing 8th
- Officially opened Glasbury House 8th September 2001
- Competed in the 2002 Japan Gold Cup final placing 8th in the world
- Bronze Medal European Championships Hamburg 2003 (qualification for paralympics)
- Winners of the fist Women's National league and Top scorer 2004
- Competed in the 25 year anniversary Spitfire Tournament in Canada (Great Britain) beating Mexico
- Athens Paralympics 2004 Final placing 8th in the World
- Awarded the Outstanding Achievement award by Brunel University 2004
- Awarded an Honorary Masters from Brunel University for services to sport 2004
- Winners of the Women's National League 2005
- Competed in the European Champoinships 20th - 25th September France Villeneuve 2005(Great Britain)
- Became the first female player Coach of a Men's National Premier League Team
- Won the Women's National league 2006
- Silver medalist at the Visa Paralympic world cup 2006
- Bronze medalist at the Paralympic world cup 2007
- Received a special achievement award at theSpitfire tournament (Canada 2008)
- Competed in my fith Paralympic games in Beijing 2008
- Awarded the best team performance from Force WBC 2009
- Received the outstanding achievement award from Brunel University 2009
- Lifetime achievement award from Wheelpower 2009
- Awarded with an OBE in the Queen's birthday honours list 2010
- Achieved first Minimum Qualifying score in International Shooting Competition (Pistol) in Stoke Mandevellle representing Great Britain
